We are looking for a talented Controls Software Validation Engineer to join our team specializing in Engineering Function for our Corporate Organization in Columbus, IN.

In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:

  • Involvement in specification, design, implementation, testing and/or release of software that controls the operation of Cummins’ products in a variety of customer applications.Investigates embedded software problems, understands causal mechanisms, recommends appropriate action, owns problem resolution and documents results with guidance from more experienced team members.

  • Apply and supports the improvement of embedded software development processes and tools. Processes include model based development, coding, compiling and test. Tools include Simulink, code editors, integration tools, static analysis tools, compilers and hardware in the loop test tools.

  • Obtain input and negotiates with product and software development teams and delivers verified software features, components, and builds to product teams.

  • Owns problem resolution for moderately complex components, products, systems, sub systems or services with a greater degree of technical complexity and ambiguity over the entry level engineer level and with greater accountability to the project team.

Qualifications

To be successful in this role you will need the following:

  • College, university, or equivalent Bachelor's degree in Engineering or other relevant technical disciplines is required. Post-graduate (Master's) degree relevant to this discipline area may be required for select roles.This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.

  • Prior entry level engineering equivalent work experience in a relevant discipline area is required. Knowledge of MS Office tools is preferred

  • Our team is responsible for controls software validation for almost all electronically controlled products Cummins produces globally. This includes Software-In-the-Loop (SIL) and Model-In-the-Loop (MIL) testing for AUTOSAR compliant products.

  • This position is for a controls software test engineer. This role will include but is not limited to some of the following areas, working with a team of 80 engineers, contractors and technicians:

  • Test script development and execution for MIL and SIL environments

  • Create/update and publish process and engineering practice documents

  • Planning and implementation of the AUTOSAR embedded software integration of internal and external software components

  • Create software builds to satisfy software release targeted functionalities and requirements, in order to arrange and perform proper integration tests

  • Debugging and analyzing software integration problems and issues found by above work

  • Participation in various cross-functional forums and meetings on software qualification, software development, processes & tools, functional safety and functional excellence.

  • Work with internal customers on prioritization of test development and execution

Base salary rate commensurate with experience.
