Materials Engineering Technician - (Hourly) Columbus, Indiana

Description

We are looking for a talented Materials Engineering Technician to join our team at the Cummins Technical Center in Columbus, IN with starting pay of $30.00 -$34.00/hour.

In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:

  • Will be working with reactors, responsibilities include - sample preparation, executing reactor evaluations, maintenance, calibrations, troubleshooting, repair instruments and equipment, data transfer, working with machine shop for taking cores and decanning and coordinating with internal and neighbouring labs.

  • Applies advanced skills and experiences while preparing samples and specimens, operating analytical instruments and equipment, performing physical inspection, acquiring and interpreting data, and documenting technical results in support of production and non-production engineering, quality, and manufacturing groups.

  • Understands and applies appropriate company and department rules and guidelines to work.

  • Coordinates the collection, transportation, and documentation of chemical waste disposal.

  • Demonstrates adaptability and responsiveness to changing work needs and willingness to undertake new tasks.

  • Develops and documents all laboratory methods, participates in the maintenance of quality procedures and work instructions, self and team audits and associated corrective actions

  • Exercises independent decision-making and initiative for needed activities, problem solving, creative technical and analytical work, and hands-on applications

  • Performs other miscellaneous duties, as required.

Qualifications

Education, Licenses, Certifications:

High school diploma, GED or equivalent required with Department of Labor Certification OR

Associates degree from an accredited program in a related field and at least two years of relevant experience OR

Bachelor’s degree in a related field OR

Relevant military education and experience.

Base salary rate commensurate with experience.
