Mechanical Engineering Drafting Associate- Columbus, Indiana
We are looking for a talented member to join our team specializing in Mechanical Drafting and Project Management.
Starting pay of $32. 00 to $34.50 an hour
In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:
Support and lead ‘Customer Tailoring VPCR (Value Package Change Request)’ projects – Will be 50% or more of role
Support Customer Tailoring Team with their 3D modeling and drafting needs
Experienced and skilled in CREO, GD&T, DVA, MS Project, and Microsoft Office
Keep projects/tasks on schedule and per plan
Participates in, leads, and documents design reviews and is able to follow design review checklist
Work with cross functional teams (application engineering, plants, suppliers, sourcing, configuration management, etc.)
Demonstrate flexibility in adapting between design support and VPCR work based on the team requirements
Demonstrate clear and effective communication with stakeholders
Functions as a Team Lead and/or has specialized knowledge to create and maintain specifications (drawings and models) of Cummins products per company, industry, national, and international standards, while positively impacting the organization's performance.
Ability to perform all of the key responsibilities of the Product Design Technician Level III.
Ensures model and drawing quality.
Creates and maintains product specifications utilizing Geometric Dimension and Tolerancing.
Utilizes Computer Aided Design (CAD) data management tools for configuration control and to maintain security.
Ensures application of company, industry, national, and international standards.
Processes internal engineering work requests.
Engages with required functional areas as needed.
Participates in the maintenance of standards and practices which ensure quality.
Mentor and train less experienced Product Designers.
Checks models and drawings prior to release.
Create assemblies to ensure fit to mating parts.
Works with engineering to generate concept models.
Participates in and/or leads Drawing Quality Reviews.
Specialized knowledge, skills, and/or leadership in one or more of the following:
Mentors and trains Product Designers with a range of experience levels.
Actively functions as the team lead for Product Design Technician work priorities.
Ensures engineering job requests are ready to be worked.
Creates concept designs.
Participates and/or leads Drawing and Design Reviews.
Analyze adequacy of design using various design tools.
Create Master CAD Models which are used to generate part tooling.
Education, Licenses, Certifications
High school diploma, GED or equivalent required with Department of Labor Certification OR
Associates degree from an accredited program in a related field and at least two years of relevant experience OR
Bachelor’s degree in a related field OR
Relevant military education and experience.
This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.
Requires significant relevant work experience or specialized skills obtained through education, training or on-the-job experience.
