Over the Air Connectivity Architect
We are looking for a talented Over the Air Connectivity Architect to join our team specializing in Engineering for our Accelera Business Segment in Columbus, Indiana.
In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:
This product focused, developing leadership position tailors electronic systems for Cummins products. People in these positions will configure (tune), integrate, test, and release software, electronic control units, tools, sensors, actuators, and harnesses into an electronic system that controls the operation of Cummins’ products in a variety of customer applications.
Creates, manages, improves and applies electronic application and systems development processes and tools. Processes include system specification, modelling and simulation, calibration, Design Verification Plan and Report (DVP&R), and troubleshooting. Tools include Simulink, calibration tools, and PTC integrity.
Uses systems knowledge and expertise to make decisions in the areas of electronic systems designs, requirements, calibration, and test that impact the quality and performance of calibrated builds and management of cross-BU integration and coordination.
Operates as the recognized multi-competency specialist or expert in a discipline or product area across a site or global business unit with responsibility for developing local talent (direct or indirect).
Investigates highly difficult or specialized electronic application and systems problems, understands causal mechanisms, recommends appropriate action, owns problem resolution and documents results.
Coaches and mentors other engineers, project managers and cross-functional team members.
To be successful in this role you will need the following:
Significant experience with embedded controls development/validation and digital / connected technologies & products.
Hands on experience of working with automotive controllers, telematics devices and IoT cloud as well as hands on experience with ECM, CAN based calibrations and analysis tools, Vector tools
Device communication protocols such as CAN, J1939, UDS, TCP/IP, Ethernet
Experience of developing cyber secure products and familiarity with UNECE 155/156, ISO 21434
Experience
Prior Technical Specialist/Specialist Engineering equivalent work experience in a relevant discipline area is required with a demonstrated track record of technical problem solving, quality decision making and providing technical direction and leadership to a project team(s). Knowledge of MS Office tools is preferred
This role is in central digital engineering team within Accelera. We are looking for a self motivated, system engineer with significant experience leading complex digital projects involving cross-functional teams.
Additional Responsibilities unique to this role:
You will own end to end architecture and system level design for over the air software update for traction/eAxle/fuel cell controllers
You will lead design and development of digital products for multi controller powertrain architectures (both CSAR and Core 2)
You will act as a subject matter expert in the team for over the air updates feature
Education, Licenses, Certifications
College, university, or equivalent Bachelor's degree in Engineering or appropriate STEM field is required.
Post-graduate (Master's) degree relevant to this discipline area may be required for select roles.
This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.
Compensation and Benefits
Base salary range: $108,000- $162,000 of the position’s Salary Grade
Please note that the salary range provided is a good faith estimate on the applicable range. The final salary offer will be determined after considering relevant factors, including a candidate’s qualifications and experience, where appropriate.
Base salary rate commensurate with experience. Additional benefits vary between locations and include options such as our 401(k) Retirement Savings Plan, Cash Balance Pension Plan, Medical/Dental/Life Insurance, Health Savings Account, Domestic Partners Coverage and a full complement of personal and professional benefits.
