Description
Utilize technical knowledge of engines and component parts to identify features and benefits that resolve specific customer issues. Provide mechanical component and use specifications to marketing team for the development of all aspects of marketing mix to ensure successful launch of new products and throughout subsequent lifecycle. Confer with engine product users and other relevant parties to ensure the product branding strategy is implemented effectively based on engine product capabilities. Develop long-term product line strategy, forecast and annual operating plan for engine products. Drive the development of engine product introduction plans. Coordinate internal and external communications in relation to the product range. Design and release new products, features and options used to input drawings, data sheets, manuals, and specifications during product development and to standardize processes for new product introduction and engineering change management. Use cross functional knowledge in the design and development of engine product project plans to improve the overall effectiveness of product marketing. Use engine product research capabilities to plan for and implement appropriate approach based on target market users, competitor products, and mechanical capabilities. Drive improvement of customer satisfaction and solve elevated customer issues in relation to engine product. Drive management of product lifecycle and determine when product should be obsolete. Analyze design information for mechanical components or systems with an eye toward the provision of key expertise for pricing-related negotiations with external customer programs using knowledge of Market positioning strategies in order to ensure global profitability of the product line. Serve as technical expert in order to bridge gap between engine design and other functions and global locations to ensure global profitability of product line. Recommend process changes to improve Value Package Introduction (VPI) and Value Package Change processes. Develop work plans to deliver product line results, and provide guidance and direction on problems/issues. Use quality tools including 7 Step problem-solving technique and Fault tree analysis to ensure continuous process improvement and propose alternatives or solutions. Meet technical targets within time and budget by applying Project management tools and techniques. Advise stakeholders on the use of engine products and services in order to provide product line budget requirements into the business unit annual operating plan and the development of product introduction plans.
Qualifications
Experience and Education:
Positions require a Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, or related field and 2 years of experience as a Project Leader, Engineer, or related position. Alternatively, the employer will accept a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field and 5 years of experience as a Project Leader, Engineer, or related position. Experience to include: Develop long-term product line strategy; Identifying features and benefits of engines to ensure successful launch of new products throughout the lifecycle; Cross-functional knowledge in the design and development of project plans; Product Lifecycle Management; Market positioning strategies; Ensure profitability of the product line; Value Package Introduction (VPI) and Value Package Change; 7 Step problem-solving technique and Fault tree analysis; Project management tools and techniques. Product line budget requirements, and product introduction plans.
