Technical Specialist, Combustion Research


We are looking for a talented Technical Specialist, Combustion Research to join our team specializing in Engineering for our Corporate Business unit in Columbus, IN / your remote home office.

In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:

  • Develops internal combustion engine combustion system designs using an Analysis Led Design (ALD) process utilizing multi-dimensional engine simulation tools, specifically CONVERGE, and participates in developing advancements to the combustion system ALD methodology and new internal combustion engine combustion strategies.

  • Works with engine development teams to understand their needs, satisfies program requirements using CFD-based design methodologies in conjunction with engine testing, and reports progress and results in a timely fashion via clear, concise oral presentations and written reports.

  • Leads and mentors less experienced engineers in combustion system design and multi-dimensional engine simulation.


To be successful in this role you will need the following:

  • An M.S. degree is required with a Ph.D. and/or relevant industrial experience preferred.

  • Understanding of relationship between ICE combustion, performance, and emissions, as well as experience with multi-dimensional engine modeling using computational fluid dynamics (CFD) tools, e.g., CONVERGE (preferred), STAR-CD, KIVA, etc.

  • Good oral /written communication skills and the ability to work with others with diverse backgrounds in a team environment

  • Ability to lead, mentor or guide small teams as well as speak out, set direction and draw others to follow your lead (Required)

Compensation and Benefits

Base salary rate commensurate with experience.
