Technical Specialist - Control Systems

Description

We are looking for a talented Controls Engineer to join our team for our Corporate Business Unit in Columbus, IN / your remote home office .

In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:

  • People in these positions will develop, test and calibrate/tune, control algorithms for sensors and actuators on the engine. Work with (provide requirements) software development teams to integrate algorithms into the Engine Control Module that controls the operation of Cummins Products in a variety of customer applications

  • Development of control algorithms and diagnostics for future spark ignition (SI) products for the all-new fuel agnostic platforms (including NG, Gasoline, Propane, and H2) to enable market leading performance, ultra-low emissions capability, and significant reduction in CO2.

  • Define requirements for system architectures and subsystems to enable adequate controllability and diagnosability including hardware components, sensors and actuators, and control modules.

  • Perform simulation studies and complete analyses using plant models such as GT-Power, AVL Boost

  • Collaborate with cross functional stakeholders for multiple programs for global products

  • Physics-based and black-box modeling for control design, diagnostics, real time estimation, and optimization.

  • Implementation of new algorithms using C-SAR and Core2 software environments.

Qualifications

To be successful in this role you will need the following:

  • College, university, or equivalent Bachelor's degree in Engineering or other relevant technical disciplines is required.

  • Minimum 3 years of relevant experience is required

  • Prior Senior or Lead Engineer equivalent work experience in a relevant discipline area is required with a demonstrated track record of technical problem solving and quality decision making.

  • Strong systems-level understanding of typical subsystems for SI engines (air handling, aftertreatment, combustion) is preferred.
