Qualifications

This is an exciting opportunity for Electronic Systems Product Advisor #MN209 in Fridley, Minnesota.

Your impact will happen in these and other ways:

  • Configure, integrate, test, and release software, electronic controls units, tools, sensors, actuators, and harnesses into an electronic system that controls the operation of Cummins’ products in a variety of customer applications.

  • Investigate highly difficult or specialized electronic application and systems problems, understand causal mechanisms, recommend appropriate action, own problem resolution, and document results.

  • Create, manage, improve and apply electronic application and systems development processes including system specification, modelling and simulation, calibration, Design Verification Plan and Report (DVP&R), and troubleshooting, and tools such as Simulink, calibration tools, and PTC integrity.

  • Model, design, and test products/subsystems/component level systems using Electronics Hardware in the Loop (HIL) simulation techniques.

  • Obtain input and negotiate with product and software development teams and deliver control systems designs, verified and calibrated software features and builds to product teams.

  • Use systems knowledge and expertise to make decisions in the areas of electronic systems designs, requirements, calibration, and test that impact the quality and performance of calibrated builds and management of Cross-BU integration and coordination.

  • Specify electronic hardware and interconnections that measure and control systems and apply them in Cummins’ products.

  • Design, integrate and help support harness interconnections schematics, harness builds using tools like Creo and Windchill.

  • Combine various parts/sub-systems or master systems into a whole to achieve the output most desired by the customer as part of Machine Integration and Optimization.

  • Apply Cummins’ installation requirements using our standard tools, processes and identified best practices to ensure optimization of performance, reliability, cost and quality.

  • Analyze technical issues using proven problem-solving and troubleshooting techniques for rapid resolution.

  • Solve product problem using a process that protects the customer, determine the assignable cause, implement data-based solutions, identify systemic root causes and recommend actions to prevent problem reoccurrence.

  • Use Systems Requirements Engineering methods and tools to translate stakeholder needs into verifiable requirements to which designs are developed.

  • Establish acceptance criteria for the system of interest through analysis, allocation and negotiation.

  • Track the status of requirements throughout the system lifecycle and analyze and assess the impact of changes to system requirements on project scope, schedule, and resources.

  • Analyze linkages and interactions between elements that comprise the system of interest by using appropriate methods, models and integration of outcomes to understand the system, predict its behavior, and devise modifications to it in order to produce the desired effects.

Required Education, Licenses or Certifications:

  • Positions require a Master’s degree Electrical, Mechanical, or Computer Engineering, or related field and 3 years of experience as an Electronics, Product, or Systems Engineer, or related position.

  • Alternatively, the employer will accept a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Computer Engineering, or related field and 5 years of experience as an Electronics, Product, or Systems Engineer, or related position.

JOB SITE: Fridley, Minnesota

WORK HOURS: 40 hours/week - 8:00 am to 5:00 pm
