Where You Fit In:
As a Structural Engineer – Vibrations & Seismic Expert, you will be part of a diverse team of professionals, helping the business complete the bigger picture of providing our clients with a robust, reliable, and dependable product.
Your responsibilities would be as follows. You will:
Help improve our latest product, the HyLyzer 5000 – which was launched less than a year ago.
Provide advice and guidance on how to improve the structural design, ensuring efficiency and innovation, from a vibration and seismic perspective. This will include reviews and approving models, DWGs, and other technical definition documentation.
Manage the conceptualization of modular mechanical design, promoting streamlined processes.
Select and define structural components for the product, subsystem, and module’s skid/frame.
Oversee vibration and seismic computer simulations and validation work, collaborating with experts to ensure quality results.
Interface with various engineering design teams (piping, process, electrical, instrumentation) for seamless integration.
Create clear work packages for CAD teams, ensuring high-quality modeling and drafting.
Major functions of the role:
· Structural Design Vibration Modeling and Analysis – Create models in accordance with Cummins’ standards and perform vibration and seismic analysis, FEA, and other computational analysis.
· Design of Structural Systems – Apply an in-depth understanding of mechanical systems and designs for requirements of all lifecycle stages by considering the customer requirements in different operating environments to ensure a robust system.
- Product Function Modeling, Simulation and Analysis – Impact product design decisions by providing vibration and seismic subject matter expert opinion through the utilization and/or interpretation of computational tools and methods that predict the capability of a product’s function relative to its system, sub-system and/or component level requirements.
Qualifications
To be successful in this role you will need the following:
Education, Licenses, Certifications
College, university, or equivalent degree in Structural/Mechanical Engineering or a related technical or scientific subject required.
Masters or PhD specialization in dynamic systems, vibrations, or/and seismic for steel structures preferred.
This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.
Must have experience:
Minimum 5 years of continuous steel structure vibration and/or seismic senior or lead engineer work experience with a demonstrated track record of technical problem solving and quality decision making.
Vibration and seismic experience must be current (not older than 5 years).
Working knowledge of structural design of static steel structures like skid bases or heavy duty mounting and lifting structures.
Working knowledge of seismic Canadian and US building code.
Ability to read, interpret, and decompose standards into requirements.
Ability to perform seismic analysis or define all boundary conditions for other analysis.
Nice to have experience:
Experience in Engineering, Procurement and Contracting (EPC), preferably in Hydrogen, Oxygen service, Oil & Gas, Offshore equipment.
Knowledge and experience of acoustics.
Familiarity with mechanical design of high voltage/high current electrical systems is a bonus.
Experience with PTC Creo CAD platform is a bonus.
Hands on experience of SAP 2000 and STAAD Pro is an asset.
Knowledge of MS Office and CREO tools is preferred.
Compensation
Salary Range: $84K - $126K. Please note that the salary range provided is a good faith estimate on the applicable range. The final salary offer will be determined after considering relevant factors, including a candidate’s qualifications and experience, where appropriate.
