Senior Director, Global Ethics and Compliance


We are looking for a talented Global Ethics & Compliance Senior Director to join our team is supporting strategic and operational business demands based in Indianapolis, IN. We are open to remote working options and are flexible with office location.

In this role, the Senior Director, Global Ethics and Compliance will make an impact in the following ways:

  • Responsible for developing and executing ethics and compliance strategies that support the Code of Business Conduct to reduce ethical and reputational risks to Cummins.

  • Develops strategic policies and procedures for the Ethics and Compliance function

  • Directs major ethics and compliance initiatives including the compliance improvements with businesses and functions including serving as the primary point of contact for matters in North America

  • Leads Third Party Risk Management program including developing, enhancing and / or executing strategic and operational requirements

  • Partners with the business to identify major ethics and compliance risks and develop strategic plans

  • Directs multiple ethics and compliance initiatives across business units or functions

  • Partners with and manages regional ethics and compliance leaders to strengthen the compliance community across the enterprise

  • Works closely with senior leadership and key internal or external constituents

  • Communicates complex compliance topics clearly and concisely to a variety of audiences through both written and oral communication

  • Anticipates needs of the business with a strategic mindset; applies strategic frameworks to analyze problems and develop solutions

  • Drives continuous improvement for the function to drive consistency and sustainability and champions’ change

  • Recruits, selects, develops, manages, motivates, coaches, and mentors’ others across varied time zones; provides guidance and direction on problems and issues; delegates work assignments considering employee skills and development needs

  • Serves as an internal expert to leadership for ethics and compliance matters

Regulatory Compliance - Champions compliance with environmental regulatory requirements imposed on industry by local, state, provincial, national, and international organizations including air emissions, waste water discharges, natural resource consumption, waste generation, spill prevention and reporting, and emergency response.

Compliance Program Management - Develops and documents compliance programs incorporating the five strategic elements of a world-class compliance program (tone at the top, risk assessment, training and communication, oversight, and reporting) to ensure that Cummins stays in compliance and reduce risks for Cummins and its shareholders.

Education, Licenses, Certifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university required

  • Advanced education or certification in Ethics and Compliance preferred


  • Demonstrated compliance program management experience. Significant level of relevant 10 years work experience, including supervisory and managerial experience of at least 7 years

  • Solid understanding of Anti-Bribery, Anti-Corruption, Anti-Money Laundering, Conflicts of Interest, and Third-Party Risk Management including experience performing compliance risk assessments

  • Demonstrated mergers and acquisition experience including post-acquisition integration compliance

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with demonstrated ability to effectively persuade, influence others, and build trust

  • Experience working with and advising senior business partners on Ethics and Compliance matters

  • High level of professional maturity including an ability to diplomatically challenge as appropriate

  • Experience delivering training programs that enhance organizational awareness and knowledge of Ethics and Compliance

  • Solid attention to detail, critical thinking, and an ability to effectively issue spot key aspects of Ethics and Compliance rules and regulations

  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills including demonstrated experience handling complex, sensitive, and confidential information

  • Ability to establish collaborative and effective business partnering with senior leaders, peers, and direct reports

  • Demonstrated knowledge of Ethics and Compliance best practices including use of predictive analytics and effective utilization of data analysis

Compensation and Benefits

Base salary range: $153,750-256,250. Please note that the salary range provided is a good faith estimate on the applicable range. The final salary offer will be determined after considering relevant factors, including a candidate’s qualifications and experience, where appropriate. Additional benefits vary between locations and include options such as our 401(k) Retirement Savings Plan, Cash Balance Pension Plan, Medical/Dental/Life Insurance, Health Savings Account, Domestic Partners Coverage, and a full complement of personal and professional benefits.
