We are looking for a talented Foreign Trade Manager Mexico to join our team specializing in CUSTOMS AND COMPLIANCE for our CUMMINS in San Luis Potosí, SLP, México .

Job description:

The Director of Foreign Trade at Cummins Mexico is responsible for global trade management, focusing on trade operations and export control compliance. This role involves understanding and applying the laws and regulations related to customs and global export controls. The director will advise business units and the organization on best practices, identifying new opportunities to reduce risks and costs, ensuring that customs and export control processes are efficient and compliant with regulations.

In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:

Commercial Operations and Compliance

-Maintain a solid knowledge of import/export laws and regulations in the assigned geographic area.

-Evaluate and optimize processes to identify opportunities and reduce risks or costs in import/export activities.

-Advise the business to capture new opportunities while complying with regulations and minimizing costs.

-Resolve complex non-routine problems and act as an escalation point.

-Review and report import/export activities to management.

-Conduct training on import/export issues.

-Maintain and expand relationships with key government organizations and brokers.

-Provide guidance for problem solving and troubleshooting, delegating assignments considering skills and employee development needs.

Export Controls

-Develop and maintain a solid understanding of export control laws and regulations related to defense and dual-use items.

-Communicate major changes in relevant laws and regulations; review and prepare necessary documentation for compliance.

-Monitor export control number allocation and evaluate restricted parts programs.

-Provide technical expertise on export control laws and regulations and act as an escalation point for complex problems.

-Evaluate processes to identify risk or cost reduction opportunities in export control activities.

-Maintain strong relationships with companies to ensure consistent compliance with export control regulations.

-Promote employee development and provide problem solving guidance, delegating work assignments appropriately.

Regional Leadership and Projects

-Lead the execution and compliance of preferential trade programs in Mexico (IMMEX, Regla Octava, Prosec, USMCA, among others).

-Represent Mexico's trade operations function in regional supply chain related projects.

-Manage government authorizations, exports and imports and preferential programs.

-Optimize costs in the customs process.

Qualifications

To be successful in this role you will need the following:

-Experience in personnel management

-Advanced conversational English

-Knowledge of customs inventory control systems

-Experience in customs negotiations with governmental areas.

Education, Licenses and Certifications:

-Completed university degree with professional license (required), Master's degree (desirable).

-Licenses to comply with export controls or sanctions regulations may be required.

Experience:

-12 years of experience in similar positions.

-Relevant industry experience and supervisory roles (more than 5 years).
