Cummins Inc. Power Generation Field Service Technician in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan

DESCRIPTION

We are looking for a motivated, energetic Field Service Power Generation technician to join our team in the Saskatoon Cummins location.

This is a field service position. There will be occasional work in shop as required, most of the work requires traveling to customer sites in the Saskatoon and northern Saskatchewan region, which can include overnight stays. This position will also require to be on call every 4-5 weeks for one week at a time.

5000 Sign-on bonus

RESPONSIBILITIES

In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:

  • Diagnoses and completes less complex repairs to generators and components at the customer’s site.

  • Engages customers in a courteous and professional manner. Anticipates and ensures prompt and efficient attention to customer needs.

  • Applies the use of specialized tools and follows documented procedures and policies to diagnose and complete less complex repairs, including identifying and preparing required parts and tools

  • Performs preventative maintenance activities as per documented schedules and standards on power generation products in the field.

  • Escalates unresolved issues to more experienced Field Service Technicians and/or Supervisor.

  • Completes required documentation, such as service worksheets, timesheets, warranty claims, quality documents via handwritten forms or business system input screens.

  • Completes training in line with skill and business requirements.

  • Maintains service vehicle and tools for cleanliness and proper operation.

  • Ensure adherence to all relevant Health Safety & Environmental policies, procedures and legislation and reports any issues / incidents to site management and to their supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS

In order to be successful in this role you will need the following:

  • Red seal certification (Heavy duty, Truck and transport, Automotive, Electrician) is mandatory.

  • Current relevant electrical certification

  • Locally valid driving permit

  • This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.

  • Broad mechanical and electrical repair and maintenance abilities.

  • High Voltage / Low Voltage experience.

  • Capable of electrical repair and maintenance with minimal supervision – hands on exposure to working on power generation products.

  • This position requires work (commissioning, preventative maintenance, diagnosis and repair) on generators ranging from portable, RV units all the way up to large commercial.

(Entry):

  • Primarily engaged in preventative maintenance or basic repairs/diagnostics on generators.

  • Basic Diesel Engine experience.

  • Requires direct supervision and review of workmanship quality.

(Intermediate):

  • Advanced troubleshooting and repairs of generators, transfer switches, and auxiliary components.

  • Startup and repair of bypass transfer switch.

  • Mentor junior technicians including technical support and documentation.

(Advanced):

  • Setup, troubleshoot and repair basic paralleling generator systems.

  • Understanding switchgear schematics.

  • Able to train Entry/Intermediate Technicians/Mechanics.
