Description

The Product Application Engineering team is responsible for all Power Systems Business Unit's customer-facing technical information that is published on internal and access-controlled external websites.

This role provides an introduction into the Customer Engineering function with responsibility for customer-facing technical information for Power Generation and Industrial Products (including information such as performance data sheets, installation manuals, and training materials for Cummins Application Engineers, etc). The impact on the business will be supporting sales with available and accurate data for our global Application Engineers and Customers.

In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:

Obtains input and negotiates with Subject Matter Experts and Value Package Introduction (VPI) Teams and delivers product data and installation requirements to Application Engineers and OEMs

Applies and improves processes such as Installation Quality Assurance, OEM integration and product selection and tools such as Advisor, Cummins OnLine Specifications (COLS) and Global Customer Engineering (GCE) required to support the processes and enable high quality decision making.

Develops strong working relationships with Cummins technical counterparts to serve as their primary liaison to deliver specialized product technical information, manage product specifications, communicate product change information and facilitate customer requests

Applies technical expertise in the areas of product, application and market knowledge to support OEM product selection and equipment design

Leads the translation of customer needs and "voice of the customer" into functional product requirements to provide input on program-related decisions

Serves as customer/market advocate inside Cummins during participation in new product development programs, design reviews and product change request processes

To be successful in this role you will need the following:

Must have a Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering

Minimum of 5 years of work experience

Willingness to learn will be critical to success in this role

A successful candidate should have strong interpersonal and project management skills because success will depend on interaction with cross-functional teams.

Having a positive attitude while dealing with ambiguity is highly desired.

Compensation and Benefits

Compensation for this role is $8,000 a month (subject to applicable withholdings), plus benefits such as health and wellness while in the returnship program.
