Job Information

Cummins Inc. Diesel Technician in South Bend, Indiana

DESCRIPTION

We are looking for a talented Diesel Technician to join our team in Mishawaka, IN specializing in engine repairs for our Distribution Business.

In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:

· Complete repairs on engine products in a service shop

· Perform maintenance/repairs utilizing diagnostic tools.

· Maintain detailed records of serviced vehicles.

· Adhere to Cummins Health, Safety & Environmental policies.

· Ongoing development/certifications on new and existing Cummins products

· Maintain own tools.

RESPONSIBILITIES

In order to be successful in this role you will need the following:

(Intermediate):

· Completes complex internal engine repairs.

· Performs engine overhauls with limited direct supervision.

(Advanced):

· Ability to troubleshoot with limited/no support from diagnostic tools

· Larger more complicated engine rebuilds.

· Mentor junior technicians including technical support and documentation.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education, Licenses, Certifications

Apprentice Trained Engine Technician (Preferred)

Vocational diploma from relevant technical institution

Locally valid driving permit (Preferred)

This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.

Experience

Intermediate level knowledge of and/or experience with engine products

Technical experience including engine troubleshooting, mechanical repair, aftertreatment familiarity, and electrical understanding. Cummins engine experience is preferred but not necessary.

This position will be part of the FTA pool.

  • This position is subject to Federal Transit Administration random and pre-employment drug testing requirements. This roll will be subject to on-going random drug and alcohol testing.

This position does not require a CDL but would be nice to have, a CDL may be required to obtain upon hire.

  • A CDL may be required to obtain upon hire

  • Federal law requires a CDL holder to be 21 years of age or older

Compensation and Benefits

Base salary rate commensurate with experience. Additional benefits vary between locations and include options such as our 401(k) Retirement Savings Plan, Cash Balance Pension Plan, Medical/Dental/Life Insurance, Health Savings Account, Domestic Partners Coverage and a full complement of personal and professional benefits.
