Senior Planner, Supply & Forecasting (North East Asia) - Tokyo
Ensures all local and global supply forecasting processes are completed on time for respective sites. Works closely with the material planning team, demand control team, COM, and Regional Forecast Manager to execute forecast adjustments within 0-3 month (emergency zone) such that site can effectively respond to demand fluctuations in short term. Recommends potential actions to planners such as expediting / de-expediting parts based on expected demand fluctuations in 0-3 month period. Works with remote team members on global projects as necessary.
Supports the integrity of the supply plan and take corrective actions promptly to ensure supply plan stability; escalates as appropriate.
Engages in cross-functional and cross-business unit interactions to ensure a dependable and efficient demand management, including daily operations.
Uses knowledge of business, customers, markets, and products to efficiently challenge demand plan assumptions to improve the quality and robustness of the demand plan.
Contributes to continuous improvement projects that align with Cummins Operating System and Functional Excellence direction and leverages common processes tools, and information systems.
Supports Corporate Supply Chain Management initiatives and supports the regional disaggregation and supply forecasting process to ensure global alignment.
Participates in standardizing disaggregation and forecasting processes and procedures by establishing collaborative business partner relationships.
Approaches daily problem solving and continuous improvement opportunities tactically to achieve performance targets.

Master Supply Planning and Demand Disaggregation - Uses statistical analysis and collaborates with other disciplines to provide a long term view of customers demand, and ensures the supply plan is aligned with the demand plan; balances supply and demand in a manner that achieves the financial and service objectives, while stabilizing the supply chain and optimizing the supply chain tensions.
Materials KPI Management - Operates in relation to recent or historical outputs as compared to expectations of the organization to determine next steps to drive improvement; assesses gaps to the supply chain performance against the expectation of achieving target deliverables; interprets KPIs to understand end-customer impact; strategically balances trade-offs to influence one KPI while minimizing the impact to others.
Planning Data Extraction and Analysis - Extracts, transforms, models, interprets, and presents planning data with the goal of mining useful information, suggesting conclusions, and supporting value creating decision making.
Materials Planning System Utilization - Uses the materials planning system to manage supply and demand plans taking long-term corrective action on exception messages and other alerts based on root cause analysis; occasionally refers to adhoc tools such as Excel, Access, TOAD, OMS, etc. in performing problem solving, while leveraging the materials planning system as the primary tool in day-to-day operations.
Education, Licenses, Certifications
Undergraduate degree required or equivalent experience. Green Belt certification preferred.
This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.
Demand Management Understanding, 6S Green Belt Certified or willingness to train, 3-5 years experience.
Project Management, Understands Supply Chain.
Active participation in regional and global forums pertaining to the allocation and supply of parts.
Measure supplier performance.
Support effective communication flows with customer facing teams.
Governance of the material plan
Improve cross functional alignment on downstream handoffs within the Movex system
