We are looking for a talented Principal Software Engineer to join our team specializing in developing Digital / IoT solutions for our customers as part of our Digital Accelerator Teams. The position is primarily based in Indianapolis, IN but offer the opportunity to consider working fully remote.
In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:
Provide technical contributions in specification, design, implementation, testing and/or release of software that controls the operation of Cummins’ products in a variety of customer applications.
Design, development, testing, deployment, maintenance and optimization of software, including data analytics and advanced software innovation in vehicle insights with Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence algorithms
Architect best in class software solutions in alignment with future industry innovation and next generation product roadmaps of Cummins Digital
Conducts or participates in formal design reviews and code reviews (where applicable) to ensure the detailed design specifications have been understood and coding standards have been adhered to by the development team(s).
Participates in the creation of standards, processes, procedures, and guidelines for the IT design and development community as well work instructions or ‘runbooks’ used for end-user support.
Proactively seeks opportunities to enhance efficiency in the build and deploy processes, leveraging automation where possible.
Coaches less experienced team members on technical matters.
To be successful in this role you will need the following:
5-7 years of Full Stack software development experience, using Java and Python experience preferred
Experienced in development on AWS or other cloud technologies
Expertise in object-oriented design, data structures, algorithms, and complexity analysis.
Knowledge of professional software engineering practices & best practices for the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations
Experience in developing requirements and formulating business metrics for reporting, familiarity with data visualization tools, e.g. Tableau
Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and management to collect requirements, describe software product features, and technical designs
Compensation and Benefits
Base salary rate commensurate with experience.
